After a lot of walking in Segesta and cultural discoveries in Monreale, we agreed that Cefalu will be our break and we will just enjoy the beach town with all its charm without going anywhere special.
Getting to the town wasn’t a problem but real troubles started when we wanted to find our booked apartment and parked near by. I guess we turned around at least 4 times as wherever we wanted to go out was closed to the traffic at all. We didn’t realise that our flat is situated exactly in historic centre and all traffic is banned there. I mean over all, it sounds great but how we gonna bring our luggage there if we parked miles away? Finally we went around La Rocca – the big rock towering over Cefalu and tried to approach from different side. This time we were even stopped by a policeman but he let us park for few minutes as our booked place was supposedly close by. And then it began again. The flat was situated in one of the small alleys coming from a small narrow street. It took us a while wandering around the cobbled streets and a phone call to the owner until we finally found it. And there, big surprise. I knew the flat from the photos on Internet but seeing it in real circumstances was a different thing. It was probably converted garage or basement flat done extremely well and set in such an unexpected surroundings. It was really good.
We also treated ourselves to nice breakfast on the main square where they offer delicious sweets and coffee. Plus at night I tried a different local fortified wine-Zibbibo. Nice:)
Of course, we had a friendly cat in our small alley who had a special chair on the balcony, it seemed like it was just for him 😉
Now, we are heading to Lipari on Eolian Islands where we are going to get away from it all and have a peaceful 3 days exploring the archipelago.
