Last Saturday we decided to celebrate our anniversary by having a night out in Indian restaurant. Already from that sentence you can figure out that I am going out with a British person whose favourite cuisine apart from pizza is Indian. During our year in Malta we have checked out some Indian restaurant mostly on Sliema/Gzira waterfront but to say the truth we weren’t really impressed and decided that we have better Indian at home. This time we followed the reviews on Trip advisor and we found a place called The Emperor of India . The restaurant is situated in Paceville but in the more quiet part of it and we were quite surprised that we have never even walked next to it.
We ordered poppadoms as a starter and then prawn curry and chicken in Emperor of India style as well as garlic and Peshawari naan breads.
The food was really delicious, the restaurant got crowded and to top it up there was a big group of Indian guys having their meal here as well which I think is a good sign as they know if the food is real.
The only downside was the bill which with starters, mains and two beers each came to more than 50 euros which for Maltese standards is pretty high. Especially if you think that the prawn curry was priced at 17 euros….a lot…..
To sum up, we will probably come back there but we will treat it as a special occasion place because of the expensive menu.
